Expansion of photovoltaics at WIEGEL

At the Velké Meziříčí site, a photovoltaic system with a planned annual output of around 500 MWh was recently installed. The aim of this measure is to optimize the plant’s energy consumption through self-generated electricity while simultaneously contributing to the reduction of CO₂ emissions.

The system was built on existing company premises and represents another step toward sustainable site development. In addition to the PV system, two charging points for electric vehicles were installed on the company premises. This meaningfully expands the site-related infrastructure – also with regard to the growing importance of alternative drive technologies for employees and visitors.

Part of the long-term energy and environmental strategy

At other WIEGEL sites as well, the integration of photovoltaic systems is part of the long-term energy and environmental strategy. For example, our more recent plants – such as the site in Denkendorf – are already equipped with modern rooftop PV systems. Another site with comparable technology is currently being planned in Plattling. The PV systems used there will also support hybrid zinc furnace technology, helping to make processes even more energy-efficient. At our PBH powder coating facility in Höchstadt, WIEGEL is already actively using available rooftop space for photovoltaic systems to contribute to a more sustainable energy supply.

Through measures like these, WIEGEL aims to meaningfully integrate the use of renewable energy into production processes at various sites and to align existing systems for the future.
