Groundbreaking Ceremony for Germany’s Most Advanced Coating Plant in Feuchtwangen
On September 25, 2025, the WIEGEL Group officially launched the construction of Germany’s most advanced coating plant at its Feuchtwangen site. The high-tech facility, built with an investment in the double-digit million range, combines cutting-edge technology with the highest environmental standards.
High-tech facility with a broad service portfolio
The new coating plant will have a capacity of around 400,000 square meters per year. Epoxy resin (EP) and polyurethane (PUR) systems in both 1K and 2K versions will be used. The concept includes a fully automated blasting and coating line, supplemented by manual booths and thermal spraying. Primary applications include infrastructure components such as power transmission towers (110 kV, 220 kV, 380 kV) and noise barriers.
The dimensions are impressive: approx. 5,000 m² of hall space plus additional storage, technical building equipment, and office areas, along with over 6,600 m² of storage space.
Sustainability in focus
Construction and operation comply with the German Building Energy Act (GEG). The plant will feature hybrid heating technology, a photovoltaic system, charging infrastructure for cars and trucks, and the option of using e-trucks. WIEGEL also relies on waterborne liquid coating systems.
Statements on the project
Dr. Oliver Nitzsche, Managing Director WIEGEL Group:
“We are building Germany’s most advanced coating plant here. It combines the latest technology, the highest environmental standards, and is located right next to our existing galvanizing plant – enabling us to offer galvanizing and coating at one site.”
Holger Wiedemann, Head of Coating Division WIEGEL Group:
“We combine state-of-the-art epoxy and polyurethane systems with an annual capacity of around 400,000 square meters. The fully automated plant concept stands for top quality and efficiency. At the same time, we are implementing a consistently sustainable operating model – from hybrid energy supply to water-based coating systems.”
Patrick Ruh, Mayor of Feuchtwangen:
“This represents great confidence in the Feuchtwangen site and a clear enhancement in terms of innovative technologies in the construction sector.”
